It’s undeniable that Filipinos continue to be infatuated with Korean dramas. But another country has been steadily winning Pinoy hearts, with its incredibly cheesy but heartwarming shows as well as entertaining horror films.
Thai series and movies have been steadily gaining a following among Pinoys. And while original Filipino films have also become popular on Netflix—just check Through Night and Day, with Paolo Contis and Alessandra de Rossi, which although made in 2018 has recently been among the most watched films on the streaming platform—Filipino viewers have been consuming Thai dramas (and comedies and horror) a lot. After all, great stories can come from anywhere and be loved by everyone everywhere.
