Diocese of Legazpi observes Day of Prayer & Fasting

Diocese of Legazpi Bishop Joel Baylon has declared this day, July 27, as a Day of Prayer and Fasting in the whole diocese to coincide with the fifth State of the Nation Address of President Duterte.

In a Pastoral Letter, Baylon instructed all the priests, the religious, and all the faithful in the diocese to offer their holy masses and prayer intentions this day for peace, reconciliation, and healing in the country.

The bishop, likewise, encouraged all the parishes under the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Legazpi to observe a Holy Hour to pray for the same intention.

“This Monday, July 27, our nation will once again listen to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. As Catholic citizens of this nation, let us continue to pray for our country and our government leaders,” read part of Baylon’s letter.

The Diocese of Legazpi has 47 parishes that cater to the spiritual needs of more than 1.4 million Catholics in the province of Albay.

Baylon urged the faithful to pray for all government officials, particularly the President, to be guided by the Holy Spirit in the performance of their duties which should always be for the common good.

Parishes under the Archdiocese of Manila will also be offering all their holy masses today, July 27, for peace and justice.
