BuCor denies death of another high-profile PDL

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) refuted claims on the death of yet another high-profile person deprived of liberty (PDL) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City on Saturday.

In a text message, BuCor spokesman Gabriel Chaclag said the reports of the death of Raymond Dominguez, who was convicted for carnapping, were not true.

“Nasa COVID-19 isolation area po (He's in the COVID-19 isolation area),” Chaclag said when was asked where the inmate was.  Site Harry is NBP's isolation area for COVID-19 patients.

News about the inmate’s death spread on Saturday after a source said that he died at the Ospital ng Muntinlupa.

But Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) president Aresenio “Boy” Evangelista said in an interview with DZBB radio that he got word of Dominguez' death from his own source, saying Dominguez died at the Ospital ng Maynila.

A check with the Ospital ng Muntinlupa showed it had no record by the name of Dominguez.

Meanwhile, Evangelista said he was still confirming it with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) who was doing an investigation at the NBP.

Dominguez, the leader of a carnapping syndicate was tagged as the mastermind behind the killing of Evangelista's son, car dealer Venson Evangelista as well as two other victims Emerson Lozano, son of lawyer Oliver Lozano and his driver Ernane Sensil in 2011.
