La Union to implement stricter ECQ protocols

CAMP B/GEN. OSCAR M FLORENDO -Police Regional Office 1 Director Police Brigadier General Rodolfo S Azurin Jr. has ordered the strict implementation of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) protocols in San Fernando City, La Union after the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force approved the request of the local government to place the city under ECQ.

Azurin said they will strictly enforce social distancing, the wearing of face masks, and curfew hours.

La Union policemen will also assist in the contact tracing of those who encountered persons positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

“Our police will be part of the team in contact tracing together with the health workers,” Azurin said.

“Expect the police to be stricter in manning the streets and checkpoints amid the rising number of COVID cases in the province," he said.

Azurin encouraged residents to help the local government in battling COVID-19 by "staying inside your homes, wearing your face masks, and observing proper hygiene."

"Let us flatten the curve together and heal as one,” he added.

Quarantine checkpoints have been set up in all entry and exit points of San Fernando City, La Union. Business establishments in the city were also given reinforced ECQ guidelines.
