DAVAO CITY - The City Government of Valencia in Bukidnon province has placed the compound of the Iglesia sa Dios Espiritu Santo under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) after two of the city’s latest cases of coronavirus disease were identified to be residing in the church’s compound.
They included a 54-year-old man from Makati City and a 19-year-old man from Antipolo City. The cases were the city’s 17th and 18th case, respectively.
Mayor Azucena Huervas signed Executive Order No. 49, dated July 20, which declared the church compound located at Purok 2, Lumbo in Valencia City as a critical zone (CrZ).
The EO said the Valencia City Task Force Against COVID-19 “shall enforce extremely restrictive perimeter control upon which movement of individuals, regardless of age and health status, within, inbound and outbound the CrZ is strictly prohibited, except for emergency instances such as medical and surgical procedures and treatments.”
The said EO also categorized establishments within the 500-meter radius from the church compound as Containment Zone (CZ).
“Movement within CZ is allowed but limited to accessing essential goods and services and those working in permitted offices, establishments or such other activities under existing guidelines,” it added.
On the same day of the release of the EO, Valencia City also confirmed its first COVID-19 local transmission after a 13-year-old girl, whose 15-year-old sister, tested positive for COVID-19. The elder sister is a Locally Stranded Individual (LSI) from Barangay Bagontaas.
Valencia City currently has 15 active cases of COVID-19.
