Archdiocese of Davao to allow baptisms, weddings anew in August

DAVAO CITY – The Archdiocese of Davao said it was allowing individual baptisms and special weddings anew next month, as long as these would follow the health protocols and guidelines prescribed by the government.

In its latest advisory signed by Archbishop Romulo G. Valles, the Archdiocese of Davao said the church may start accepting schedules for individual baptism and special weddings, but only during weekdays only.

“It may be difficult for us to accommodate these celebrations of baptism and wedding in the usual schedules on Saturdays and Sundays. Therefore, for everyone’s guidance, you may celebrate these occasions during weekdays,” Valles said.

Valles said that the churches can start accepting schedules for the two sacraments, but the actual celebration will have to start only next month August. He added that, as to the sacrament of confirmation, the church is not yet allowed to accept schedule on this.

The Archbishop of Davao also reminded that the proceeds from individual baptisms shall be remitted to the chancery for the seminary fund, as this is already almost depleted.

“In all these, we are reminded to strictly follow all health protocols and directives regarding public religious gatherings found in our guideline,” Valles said.
