COVID-19 tally surges to 67,456, with 22,465 recoveries and 1,831 deaths


The Department of Health (DOH) has now confirmed more than 67,000 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country.

Philippines’ COVID-19 tally soared to 67,456 on Sunday, July 19, as the DOH reported additional 2,241 new infections. Active cases is at 43,160.

The death count soared to 1,831 after 58 more fatalities connected to COVID-19 have been reported.

Recoveries jumped to 22,465 with 398 new survivors.

The country has conducted 1,117,568 tests since February. The number of accredited COVID-19 laboratories is now at 88 as of July 18.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that behavior is  “very critical” in this time of pandemic.

“Kung hindi magbabago ang tao ng kanilang nakagawian at hindi sila susunod dito sa mga bago or to this new normal that we are saying, mahihirapan talaga tayo. ,” she said.

“Isa sa pinaka-importante dito sa response natin at sinasabi rin naman ‘yan ng mga eksperto and even in articles with evidences that would say na itong mga non-pharmaceutical interventions would really be critical in a country kasi sila makakapag-prevent ng mga kaso. ," she added.

Vergeire continues to urge the public to observe the minimum health standards set by the government.

“Maliliit na bagay pero kung hindi natin gagawin nang maayos, kakalat ang impeksyon ,” she said.
