The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) received 5,000 surgical masks from a non-profit organization on Friday (July 17).
MMDA Chairman Danilo Lim personally accepted the donation of the Aboitiz Foundation at the MMDA Headquarters in Makati City.
The surgical masks, Lim said, will be distributed to their personnel so that they can serve the public safely during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Lim thanked the Aboitiz Foundation, saying the donation will help protect MMDA personnel as they continue to serve the public.
"Maraming salamat sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sa serbisyo ng MMDA, lalo na ngayong panahon ng krisis! Salamat sa Aboitiz Foundation para sa malasakit na binibigay niyo (Many thanks to everyone supporting MMDA's services, especially during this time of crisis! Thank you to Aboitiz Foundation for your concern)," he wrote on his official Facebook page.
"Malaking tulong ang 5,000 pieces na surgical masks na ito, hindi lang para sa kalusugan at kaligtasan ng ating mga kawani, kundi pati na rin sa pag-boost ng kanilang morale (These 5,000 pieces of surgical masks are a big help, not only for the health and safety of our personnel, but also to boost their morale)," he added.
The MMDA chairman said they will intensify their frontline and emergency services during this pandemic.
"Patuloy ang pagtutulungan natin laban sa krisis na ito (We will continue to fight this crisis together)!" he added.
