San Mateo police still clueless about murder of 8-year old girl and her uncle

SAN MATEO, Rizal- Police here are still looking for clues that may lead to the identification of the suspect or suspects in the death of two persons and the wounding of their elderly relative in a murder case that was discovered in this town Monday morning (July 13).

San Mateo Police chief Lt. Col. Jaycon Ramos told Manila Bulletin that the investigators are at the crime scene at Marang Street, Barangay Maly, to talk to the neighbors of the victims, hoping to gather information that could lead to the solution of the crime.

Ramos identified the fatalities as Kristine Grace Arias, 8, and her uncle Eduardo Masigla, 54.  Arias was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital while Masigla died Monday night, according to Col. Ramos.

The chief of police said another victim, widow Luningning McDonald, 84, reportedly the biological mother of Masigla, is still in the hospital due to head injuries she sustained.

The initial probe by San Mateo Police showed that the three victims were found lying on the floor near each other in the kitchen of their home in a compound in Barangay Maly, around 9 a.m. on July 13.

Col. Ramos said investigators have yet to find the murder weapon, but that they initially found broken slabs of hollow blocks near the crime scene, which could support their initial theory that the victims were hit with hard objects.

The police said investigators are also looking for answers as to why the dogs near the victims' house did not bark, and why the victims' personal belongings were not taken.
