The Manila mayor, along with other city government officials, had a meeting with Ospital ng Maynila Director Karl Laqui, who gave them a "thick list" of new equipment that they are planning to install in the hospital.

"Sabi ko sa kanila, ang itinatayo nating Bagong Ospital ng Maynila ay katulad ng kalidad ng Makati Medical Center (I told them that the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila will be of the same quality of Makati Medical Center)," Domagoso said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (July 14).

"Pinasalamatan din natin sila sa kanilang pagsusumikap na pagbutihin ang kanilang paggagamot sa mga COVID-19 patients (I also thanked them for their perseverance in trying to improve how they take care of COVID-19 patients)," he added.

Ospital ng Maynila is one of the city's six district hospitals.

The city government recently broke ground in Malate for the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila, which is among the infrastructure projects lined up under their "Build Build Manila" program.

It will be 10 storeys high with a total floor area of 29,951 square meters, and a capacity of 384 beds with 12 intensive-care units and 20 private rooms. The P2.3-billion hospital will also have a three-story parking building and a helipad.

During his candidacy campaign, Domagoso said they will convert the old Ospital ng Maynila building into the new College of Medicine building of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
