In a report, the DFA also noted an increase in the number of countries with Filipino COVID-19 patients to 46, based on the latest tally it gathered from the Americas and Europe.

As of April 28, the total number of overseas Filipinos afflicted with coronavirus disease is 1,604. Of the total, 996 are undergoing treatment, 419 have recovered, and 189 succumbed to the virus.

The Americas recorded the most number of cases of COVID-stricken Filipinos (457), followed by Europe (454), the Asia Pacific (360), and the Middle East and African regions (306).

Despite the increasing number of COVID-19 infections among Filipinos abroad and the risks that the pandemic poses to the members of the Filipino community worldwide, the DFA gave the assurance that its foreign service posts are committed to attending to the needs of the affected whenever possible.
