MMDA to talk about night deliveries to hotels, restaurants

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is considering meeting suppliers of hotel operators and restaurant owners to contain their deliveries at night time to help decongest traffic in the metropolis.

MMDA chairman Danilo Lim met recently with members of Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines and urged them not to allow double parking in front of their establishments.

Lim took the opportunity to discuss the possibility of delivering goods and services to food establishments during the wee hours of the evening.

“We will talk to their suppliers to confine their deliveries from 10 pm to 6 am when there are few vehicles on the roads,” said Lim.

“Commercial establishments should limit the parking of their customers’ vehicles on their respective areas,” said Lim.

The lack of parking spaces for their customers' vehicles is seen as a big factor in traffic congestion in Metro Manila.

The night time delivery scheme was first introduced to big mall operators in Metro Manila during the previous Christmas season.
