Magnitude-4.0 quake shakes Davao Oriental

BUTUAN CITY — A magnitude-4.0 earthquake shakes Banganga town in Davao Oriental this afternoon, Jan. 19, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

However, the state agency said it does not expect damages and aftershocks from the earthquake.

In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the tremor was registered at 2:26 p.m.

The epicenter was traced at 121 kilometers (km) northeast of Baganga, Davao Oriental province.

The earthquake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at a depth of 24 km., it said.

The Southern Mindanao Office of Civil Defense also reported no damage or injury.
