6 returning passengers in Davao Oriental found positive for coronavirus


DAVAO CITY - The provincial government of Davao Oriental announced that the province has recorded six new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on Friday.

It said all the new cases were locally stranded passengers, who arrived in the province from Manila, and were all from the municipality of Cateel.

The oldest of the six passengers was a 63 year-old-man from Barangay San Miguel, while the youngest was a 25-year-old man from Barangay Abijod.

The provincial government said one of the passengers arrived on June 27, and the other arrived on June 29.

The passengers underwent swab testing on July 1 at the Treatment and Monitoring Facility in Cateel. The local government unit said the official report came out the next day, and the six will be tested again after 48 hours.

At present, Davao Oriental has recorded 30 cases of coronavirus, with 12 remaining active cases and 18 recoveries.
