Davao region records 8 more COVID-19 cases


DAVAO CITY - Eight new cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported in Davao region, bringing the total number of confirmed cases here to 573, the Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) said Thursday.

In its daily regional update, the DOH said that, as of 5 p.m. on July 2, six more people turned out positive with COVID-19 in Davao City, one in Davao del Sur, and another one from Davao de Oro.

Seven people were found to be asymptomatic, and only an 18-year-old woman from Barangay 23-C in Davao City experienced symptoms of the virus starting June 26.

Davao City has so far recorded 441 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 314 recoveries.

The DOH said the eight new cases were among the 261 persons tested on Thursday.

The DOH also said four new recoveries were recorded on Thursday, July 2. The region currently has 169 active cases out of the 573 confirmed cases, and 33 fatalities.
