'Datu' Baron Geisler inspires youth with his spirituality, advocacy for peace and prosperity

Baron Geisler is no longer just an actor, but a "datu."

He has been conferred with the honorary title “Datu” by the royal family of King Raja Mohammadmamay Hasan Abdurajak and Queen Maria Makiling Helen Fatima Nasaria Panolino Abdurajak of Royal Imperial Lupah Sug Islamic United Kingdom of Sulu & North Borneo.

In his Royal Appointment and Recognition certificate, Baron is called “His Excellency Datu Baron Frederick von Geisler, Royal Datu and Ambassador for Peace and Prosperity.” He likewise received a medal, ring and royal ID as symbol of his appointment.

During the ceremony, the royal couple said Baron has been an inspiration especially to the youth. Once a troubled man, he now continues to flip over new page in life.

Asked how he feels about the conferment, Baron said: “Parang ikinasal po ako sa obligations na kailangan kong gawin. It’s a marriage na kailangan mong i-nurture at seryosohin. At kailangan ko ring mahalin. And I love doing service work. So, I’m very grateful.”

With all the issues he had been through, the 37-year-old said he strives to be the best version of himself every day. He described himself a “work in progress.”

Not leaving

In past weeks, there were rumors of Baron Geisler leaving “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” and that he will return to a rehabilitation center.

He denied both.

However, Baron admitted he got “depressed” once because of his bad guy character, Bungo, the arch-nemesis of Coco Martin’s Cardo Dalisay on the series.

“I got depressed for a while because... kung napapanood ng mga tao yung role ko as Bungo, siyempre coming from rehab and very spiritual... my thoughts were just really pure. Medyo naguluhan ako,” he admitted.

"And then, my soon to be wife, my fiancée, she flies back and forth sa Cebu-Manila. There are times na two weeks, mag-isa ako. So, na-depress ako. That’s the real story.”

But no, he won’t leave the show, saying: “I love my job, I love the show.”

On talks that he plans to confine himself at a rehab center once more, Baron explained he just visits to seek “spiritual guidance.”

“It’s just for me to be grounded. Kasi, becoming an artista again, siyempre nawala ako sa limelight for three years, nakaka-overwhelm siya na biglang kilala ka na naman ulit ng tao. So what I did was, inunahan ko na. To ground myself, na hindi lumaki ang ulo ko. And also, just to be closer to God,” he shared.

“It’s very, very easy... may kasabihan nga, ang tunay na matapang ay iyong gumagawa o pumupunta sa matuwid. Iyong nag-o-obey. Hindi iyong gumagawa ng kasamaan. Kasi, napakadali eh. Napakadaling uminom. Napakadaling tumingin sa babae nang masama. Napakadaling makipag-away, makipagsuntukan. So, I’m veering away from the bad stuff.

“So whenever I feel depressed, or ina-attack ako ng bad elements, ng demonyo...I have a spiritual family to go to. It’s a house. Penuel Home. We pray. May structure. I’m a graduate there kasi. So, I’m always welcome.”

Family values

Baron revealed ABS-CBN executive Malou Santos talked to him about the possibility of doing “Tabing Ilog” reunion.

It's teen-drama series in the early 2000s topbilled by Paula Peralejo, John Lloyd Cruz, Patrick Garcia,Jodi Sta. Maria, Paolo Contis, Desiree del Valle, Baron, and Kaye Abad. The premise of it focuses on the friendship of best friends Anne, Eds, Badong, James, Rovic, Fonzy, Corrine, and George.

Baron hopes it would push through.

“But of course, John Lloyd needs to be there,” he said.

John Lloyd is on indefinite leave of absence from showbiz since 2017.

“Balik ka na pre, nami-miss ko na siya eh. Kailangan ka ng industriya,” Baron said when asked to give a message to him.

On the other hand, Baron is finishing a movie with Brillante Mendoza, “Bangsamoro,” alongside Piolo Pascual, Laurice Guillen, and Christopher de Leon.

Baron now manages a production company, Knights of the King Circle, owned by Pastor Joe Villanueva.

According to him, they plan to produce five movies with Christian family values every year.

“Our mission and vision is to go all over the Philippines and spread the Word. Evangelistic po iyong congregation namin, to make things clear. They appointed me as the Executive Vice President for Media Production.

He said: “Iyon pong gagawin naming five to seven films, series, cartoons, punung-puno po ang mga ito ng Christian family values na kailangang-kailangan ng kabataan ngayon. We already spoke with a lot of people. To make things clear, ayokong maging center of attraction nito. I won’t be directing. I’ll hire the right people.

"I’ll hire good writers, directors, because I don’t want to waste the money of the congregation. I don’t want to waste time. I want to get the best para good quality iyong films and projects. And I don’t want to be hard pressing naman na you should convert. It will always come from the heart na lang sana. At least, kung may 100 na nanood, kahit isa, may makuha sila roon. Magkaroon sila ng relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. And amen! Praise God!”

By next year, Baron will wed fiancee Jaime Evangelista.

“We just want to make it simple. We’re already preparing… so let’s just see. I’m really excited for that. "
