Likhaan opens free online library of Filipiniana literature

The Likhaan, the University of the Philippine’s Institute of Creative Writing (UP ICW) has its opened the free online library of Filipiniana Literature.

In a Facebook post on Monday, UP ICW announced the opening of the library, called “Freelipiniana”.

“The Freelipiniana Online Library seeks to bring Filipino literature to every Filipino in a time when information and education are limited,” UP ICW said on its introductory note.

Likhaan said that all works in the library are volunteered for distribution by authors and publishers, and cannot be printed, reproduced or sold without permission from the owner.

It is divided into six sections such as fiction, poetry, nonfiction, drama, graphic literature, and children literature.

“The opening of the Freelipiniana Online Library is only the beginning as we continue efforts to make education and literature accessible as safely as possible. Para sa malayang pagbabasa sa gitna ng pandemya (For free reading in the middle of the pandemic),” Likhaan said.

The institute also released guidelines for authors who wish to contribute their works.
