The Cardona Police identified the suspect as Rowren Reyes alias “Alas,” a 27-year-old fish port helper.

Reyes initially caught the attention of officers patrolling Barangay Looc after walking on the street beyond the curfew hours and without a face mask on the evening of May 18. He tried to elude arrest but was eventually collared by the police.

According to Cardona Police Chief P/Capt. Jhuner Mojares, officers found a heat-sealed sachet of white crystalline substance hidden between fabric layers of the rag he was holding. The substance later turned out to be methamphetamine hydrochloride.

The police also recovered a lighter and a piece of foil during the body search.

The suspect is currently detained at the Cardona Municipal Police Station Custodial Facility and is facing drug charges.
