DOH records 54 new cases in QC

The number of COVID-19 cases in Quezon City has risen to 1,910 from 1,856, an increase of 54 as of 7 p.m. of May 20, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed.

As in past statistics, the number of validated cases by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices differed as it recorded 1,544, up by 40 from the previous 1,540 during the same time frame.

The Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) noted that the number of confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City is up by 54 from the previous 1,673 to 1,727.

In the same QCHD data, the active COVID-19 cases in Quezon City, referring to those who have not fully recovered, jumped by 20 from 763 to 783.

COVID-19 recoveries and deaths in Quezon City

As of 7 p.m. of May 20, the number of COVID-19 recoveries is 596, up by 18 from the previous 578, while the death toll stood at 165 from 163.

Hope facilities

As of May 20, 2020, 26 confirmed and seven suspected COVID-19 patients are confined in Hope 1, with eight rooms still available.

In the same period, 165 rooms are occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients while 129 beds remain available. Those who have been tested in the city’s community-based testing centers are brought to Hope 2 for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

The recently opened Hope 3 houses confirmed and suspected COVID-19 nursing mothers and their babies. It is equipped with 84 beds, cribs, bassinets, and other baby essentials.

At present, 33 confirmed COVID-19 patients are confined in the facility.

Special concern lockdown (SCL) areas

The Quezon City government has placed certain areas in Barangays Bahay Toro, Culiat, Sauyo, Batasan Hills, and Tatalon under 14-day SCL since May 13 due to the high number of COVID-19 cases.

The initial areas under SCL include: Sitio Militar in Barangay Bahay Toro; Vargas Compound-Adelfa Metro Heights-Abanay and Ancop Canada in Barangay Culiat; Lower Gulod in Barangay Sauyo; 318 Dakila St., 2nd Alley Kalayaan B and Masbate St. in Barangay Batasan Hills; Victory Avenue, ROTC Hunters, BMA Avenue, and Agno St. in Barangay Tatalon.

Kalingang Quezon City

The Kalingang QC program will resume its distribution of financial aid to lactating mothers and members of the transport sector in the coming days.

Belmonte said the members of other transport groups will receive their Kalingang QC payout at the Quezon City Hall.
