DFA records 37 new COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Sunday recorded 37 new confirmed COVID-19 cases among overseas Filipinos, with two new recoveries and three new deaths all in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa regions.

This brings the total number of Filipinos abroad infected with coronavirus to 2,397, with 1,294 undergoing treatment, 826 recoveries, and 277 fatalities.

“ the increase in the daily rate of recoveries reported by the DFA through its Foreign Service Posts today, latest figures show that the total number of Filipinos abroad who recovered COVID-19 at 826 cases is now almost three times more than the total fatalities and comprises about 34 percent of the total confirmed cases,” the foreign affairs office explained.

So far, Europe posted the biggest number of infections among Filipinos with 723 cases, followed by the Middle East/Africa with 687, the Americas with 542 cases, and the Asia Pacific region with 445 cases.

All these cases were monitored in 46 different countries and regions worldwide.
