Two repatriated OFWs in Negros Occidental test positive for COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY - Two overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Negros Occidental tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

These two patients were repatriated from Manila via 2Go Malasakit voyage. They arrived in the city on April 28.

According to the provincial government, Patient No. 8 is a 35-year-old male from Valladolid town who arrived in the Philippines on March 22 from Miami, USA.

Patient No. 9 is a 27-year-old male from Bago City, who arrived in the country on March 20 from Miami and New York.

The first swab tests were taken on May 1, with negative results. Second swab tests were done on May 9, with positive results.

Both patients are asymptomatic and are currently quarantined in a facility here.

The Department of Health - Western Visayas Center for Health Development reported that the province has seven confirmed COVID-19 cases among the repatriates, as of May 13, 2020.
