TACLOBAN City – The Department of Health (DOH-8) has appealed to the public not to discriminate against people from Samar province which the most number of confirmed coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Eastern Visayas.

“Not all from Samar province should be labeled as suspects. The local government of Tarangnan is doing its best to contain the virus. Let us not discriminate against them. Instead, let us pray for them that they may overcome this health crisis,” the DOH-8 said.

Tarangnan, Samar has reported community transmission with 15 recorded cases. It is the only municipality in the region that has active cases and is currently on total lockdown.

Catbalogan City and Calbayog City in Samar have one case each, both have recovered and were discharged from the hospital.
