QC reports 2 new COVID-19 deaths

The number of COVID-19 cases in Quezon City (QC) jumped by six from the previous 1,512 to 1,518 as of 7 p.m. of Friday (May 8), the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

As in past computations, the number of validated cases by the Quezon City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (QCESU) and District Health Offices differed from the DOH data as it stood at 1,156 from the previous 1,128, for a difference of 28.

The Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) reported 1,397 confirmed cases with complete addresses in Quezon City up by 12 from the past tally of 1,385.

From 671, the active COVID-19 cases, referring to those who have not fully recovered, stood at 685, rising by 14.

As of 7 p.m. of May 8, the QCHD reported 12 new recoveries, bringing its total to 337, while two new deaths were recorded, increasing the number to 134.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)

EECQ is in effect in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.

However, Mayor Joy Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.

She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still subjected to validation.

As of 7 p.m. of May 8, the Quezon City government has enforced EECQ in the following barangays:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, Pansol, North Fairview, Novaliches Proper, and New Era.

Hope 1 facility

As of May 8, 2020, there are 20 confirmed COVID-19 and seven suspected COVID-19 patients confined in the facility, leaving 14 rooms still available.

Hope 2 facility

In the same period, 173 beds remain available as 11 rooms are occupied by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients.

Those who have been tested in the city’s community-based testing centers are brought to the facility for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

Community-based testing service

On May 8, a total of 278 tests were conducted in the community-based testing centers and local government hospitals and by the QCESU.

Of the 278 tests, 9 were done in Quezon City General Hospital, 14 in Novaliches District Hospital, 9 in Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital, 3 at QC Experience, 20 at SB Park Novaliches, 56 at Asian Institute of Tourism, 13 at Old Balara Court, 18 at Esteban Abada Elementary School, 18 at Batasan National High School, and 118 by QCESU.

Social Amelioration Program (SAP)

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), assisted by the city, is distributing financial support to its residents under the social amelioration program.
