Second Lt. Kreanne S. Carmona, CMO officer of the 67th IB told The Manila Bulletin on Monday that the discovery of the arms cache took place after a rebel returnee who voluntarily surrendered early this year revealed the exact location of the war materials.

The arms cache was reportedly owned by the Front North, Sub-Regional Committee 1 (FN, SRC1) of the CPP-NPA Southern Mindanao Regional Command (SMRC), the 67th IB CMO officer said.

Acting upon the information that was disclosed by the ex-rebel, an Army unit conducted intel/combat operations and recovered four AK47 rifles, an M14 riffle, a Garand rifle, an M79 Grenade Launcher and assorted live ammunitions, it said.

The recovered high powered firearms were immediately brought to Battalion Headquarters (BH) in Barangay Salingcomot, Baganga, Davao oriental for proper disposition.
