The Ospital ng Malabon will temporarily stop accepting non-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) positive patients starting Thursday to give way to disinfection of the facility, Mayor Antolin Oreta said.

In an interview with DZMM Teleradyo, Oreta said this was after four of the hospital's health workers got infected by the virus that causes the respiratory disease.

The mayor said they will conduct contact tracing to the colleagues of the four positive patients.

Those who already had symptoms would be subjected to swab tests and undergo isolation, he added.

Meanwhile, the emergency room, laboratory, and radiology section will remain open for out-patients.

Operations at the amphitheater or medical management area for suspected and probable COVID-19 cases in Malabon are also ongoing.

The hospital is expected to resume full operations next Thursday, May 7, Oreta said.

The local government has already registered 51 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city, including 12 rescues and nine fatalities.
