DOH reports 126 COVID-19 cases in Davao region

DAVAO CITY - The Department of Health (DOH)-Davao has recorded a total of 126 people who tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Davao region.

As of 5 p.m. on Monday, the DOH-Davao Center for Health Development (DCHD) confirmed two more cases of COVID-19 in the Davao City, bringing the total number of positive cases in the city to 110. 18, of which were fatalities.

The DOH-DCHD also confirmed two new recoveries in Tagum City, Davao del Norte, bringing the total number of recoveries in Davao region to 71.

“Based on the assessment, the most common signs and symptoms experienced by COVID-19 patients in the region were cough, fever, chills and colds,” DOH XI director Dr. Annabelle Yumang said in an interview.

The health department also revealed that a total of 2,922 close contacts of the 120 patients positive for COVID-19 were already identified on the contact tracing they have initiated.

The DOH-Davao said 2,731 or 93% of the patients’ close contacts were already contacted and monitored.

Of the 126 cases, it was found out that 87 of cases are composed of male individuals and 39 cases are female.

DOH 11 director Yumang also said that the three most common natures of exposure of those who tested positive for coronavirus were among those who went to the Matina Gallera cockpit for a derby, and exposure to COVID-19 positive patients.
