The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) ward of the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) has exceeded its capacity as the infected patients continue to increase.

A total of 137 COVID-19 patients are now admitted at the hospital, more than the 130 beds allocated for patients with the virus, Dr. Jonas del Rosario, PGH spokesman, said in a report from GMA News.

The hospital opened another wing for COVID-19 patients to accommodate all the patients.

PGH is planning to transfer COVID-19 patients who are near- to fully recovered to quarantine facilities or community centers to accommodate new patients.

The health department on Monday reported 200 new COVID-19 cases bringing the total number to 6,459, with 613 recoveries and 428 deaths.
