Rebel returnee shot dead in Isabela

A rebel returnee was shot dead while in a drinking session with group of his friends in Barangay Rang-ayan in Ilagan City, Isabela.

Police Capt. Frances Littaua, spokesperson of Isabela Provincial Police Office IPPO), identified the victim as Pedro Anog , 27 years old, a rebel returnee and a resident of Minanga, San Mariano, Isabela.

He was allegedly shot by Jerry Dungliin, a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) intelligence service.

Probers said the victim was shot by the suspect with the use of a still undetermined caliber of firearm around 11 p.m. last Thursday, April 16.

The victim was rushed to the Isabela Doctors General Hospital, but was pronounced dead on-arrival by the attending physician.

It was reported that prior to the incident, the victim and suspect were having a drinking session together with other companions when a heated altercation ensued between them.

Irked, the suspect reportedly shot the victim that resulted in his death.

Elements of Ilagan City police conducted hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the suspect.
