COVID-19 deaths and recoveries

As of 7 p.m. of April 16, the QCHD reported that there are 80 deaths and 76 recoveries in Quezon City.

Extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ)

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the city government enforces the EECQ in barangays with two or more confirmed COVID-19 cases and in various streets and/or in congested urban poor areas where fast transmission is most likely to occur.

However, Belmonte said this will still be subjected to daily review depending on the number of cases/recoveries.

She noted the newly reported barangays with two cases have not yet been included in the list as they are still undergoing validation.

As of 7 p.m. of April 16, the Quezon City government has implemented EECQ in the following barangays:

Tandang Sora, Kalusugan, Ramon Magsaysay, Maharlika, Tatalon, Batasan Hills, Pasong Tamo, Central, San Roque, Paligsahan, Bagong Lipunan ng Crame, South Triangle, Culiat, Bahay Toro, E. Rodriguez, San Isidro Labrador, Matandang Balara, Teachers Village West, Manresa, Paltok, Sto. Domingo, Bagong Silangan, Holy Spirit, Payatas, Marilag, Socorro, Kamuning, Pinyahan, San Isidro Galas, Commonwealth, and Pansol.

Hope 1 facility

As of April 16, Hope 1, a temporary quarantine facility, has five available rooms. Currently, 31 confirmed COVID-19 patients and four probable patients are admitted to the facility.

Hope 2 Facility

As of  April 16, Hope 2 has a total of 215 beds with 98 beds now being used by confirmed and suspected COVID-19 patients. The facility still has 117 beds available. Those who have been tested at QC’s community-based testing service are brought to Hope 2 for self-isolation while waiting for their results.

'Kalingang Quezon City' report

Belmonte said that as of April 16, the city government had provided cash aid to more than 23,500 tricycle, jeepney, and taxi drivers under its "Kalingang QC" program.

She noted her administration has given financial assistance to tricycle and jeepney drivers, market vendors, solo parents, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) whose livelihoods have been affected by the ECQ.

Quezon City (QC) community-based testing

A total of 140 tests were conducted on April 16 by the city’s community-based testing service, those done by the local government hospitals, and the testing conducted by the QCESU.

Belmonte said 51 were done at the Quezon Memorial Circle, 28 at Quezon City General Hospital (QCGH), 10 at Novaliches District Hospital (NDH), and 51 by the QCESU.

She explained those who want to be tested for COVID-19 should proceed to their respective barangay health centers where preliminary interviews and evaluation will be done prior to the scheduling for testing.

Disinfection guidelines in public areas

Belmonte has approved the recommended guidelines on the preferred method for cleaning and disinfection of critical infrastructure and the environment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

With the recommendation of the city’s incident command team, Belmonte said that the guidelines cover public outdoor spaces including markets, parks, roads, open spaces, and vehicles used to transport COVID-19 cadavers.

All personnel conducting disinfection must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
