BUTUAN CITY – A total 3,805 workers affected by the temporary closure of establishments in Northeastern Mindanao, or Caraga region because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have received financial assistance from the government.

The workers came from the 311 business establishments spread in the five provinces and six cities in Northeastern Mindanao or Caraga region.

More than P19.1 million worth of financial assistance was distributed to the affected formal sector workers.

Regional Director Chona M. Mantilla of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the financial aid to the Caraga workers was part of the COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program or CAMP.

Employees eligible to avail of CAMP include those working as regular or permanent, on probationary status; contractual, or employed in private establishments whose operations were affected by the quarantine either by temporary closure or because of flexible work arrangements.

“We are still processing other workers who already applied for CAMP assistance,” said the region’s top DOLE 13 chief, in an exclusive interview with The Manila Bulletin on Wednesday.
