7th COVID-19 case confirmed in Zamboanga City

ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) here confirmed on Saturday, April 11, this city’s seventh coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case.

The patient was a 94-year-old female who lives on Veterans Avenue with no history of travel. She is currently confined at a private hospital.

Meanwhile, health officials here have placed 117 persons under investigation (PUIs), and about 4,061 persons under monitoring (PUMs), figures which have been observed to be steadily increasing every day.

There were a total of 117 PUIs that were taken to the Lantaka isolation facility, 47 of whom have already tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), and 14 discharged. There were 20 PUIs at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC), and one at the Department of Health (DOH)-Cabatangan facility.

Of the 4,061 PUMs recorded, 3, 643 have been cleared after completing the mandatory 21-day quarantine period, leaving 598 persons still being monitored since the city was place under an enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco said health officials here are monitoring 117 PUIs persons in this city after seven of them recently tested positive for COVID-19.

ZCMC has recorded a total of seven COVID-19 cases, five of which are in the city, and two are in Manila but included in the roster as they listed Zamboanga City as their hometown.
