Dagupan City -- Nine persons under investigation (PUIs), including a 64-year-old woman who died five days ago, tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Mayor Brian Lim reported Thursday, after receiving a report from the Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development of Region 1.

Dagupan City Information Office said DCPUI3+, a resident of Barangay Mayombo, died on April 4 at the Region I Medical Center (R1MC), where she was confined since April 1.

With the protocol set by the DOH and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, the patient was immediately cremated the following day.

DCPUI3+ did not have history of travel. But she was confined at the R1MC from March 5 to 14 after undergoing surgery.

Eight other PUIs tested negative for the COVID-19 virus, including five who were frontliners, according to Dr. Ophelia Rivera, the city’s COVID-19 focal person.

The number of PUIs who tested negative for the COVID-19 had jumped from 16 to 25, almost half of the 53 PUIs recorded in the city, as of 6 p.m. on April 9.

Eleven of the total PUIs have been discharged, while seven of them are in the city’s different hospitals.
