Senator Panfilo M. Lacson on Saturday blasted Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso for hitting national and local leaders, including senators, for alleged politicking or doing nothing amid the coronavirus disease (COVID) crisis.

‘’Mali ang paratang ninyo na wala kaming ginagawa,’’ Lacson said. (Mayor, you are wrong when you claimed we are not doing something.)

Lacson said the reason why the national government is giving financial assistance to those affected by the viral pandemic, including those in Manila, was because senators burned the midnight oil and worked with the House of Representatives in crafting the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act to enable the executive branch to meet head-on the serious threats posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Passage of bills, including the coronavirus-related law, is one of the mandates of the Senate and the legislative branch, Lacson emphasized.

Lacson also said President Duterte was right in firing Manuelito Luna of the Presidential Anti-Crime Commission for seeking the investigation of Vice President Leni Robredo because the social services initiated by her office to respond to the COVID-19 crisis were allegedly “competing” with the national government’s projects.
