In one of the agency’s initiatives dubbed “Garden Ground”, the DA is embarking on a project that will enable families to have own sources of food during these times of crisis.

Under the project, DA will provide two classes of vegetable seeds to interested persons who may want to plant at their yards at home.

DA said that it there was no space at home, residents can use plastic containers such as mineral water bottles, bags, cans as plant receptacles.

The distribution of seed to municipalities began on March 27 through DA research centers and experiment stations in the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino.

'KADIWA of Ani at Kita' will help in distribution of vegetable seeds. DA staff will also be provided with vegetable seeds for planting.

According to DA Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo, interested persons need only to contact the office of their municipal agriculturist to avail of the free seedlings.

"We need to eat vegetables to be healthy and to avoid getting sick," he said.
