Suarez orders to assist stranded travelers headed for Bicol

LUCENA CITY - Quezon Governor Danilo Suarez has ordered the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) to assist some 100 persons, who were stopped at the Pagbilao town quarantine checkpoint as they were making their way to the Bicol provinces.

 

In instructions issued Thursday night, Suarez told the PDRRMO to come to the aid of the stranded persons, mostly laborers who had walked all the way from Metro Manila and adjacent provinces, in a bid to make it to their respective hometowns in Bicol.

They were halted at the checkpoint in Barangay Talipan, Pagbilao town.

Suarez instruction was to bring the stranded persons to the Quezon-Bicol border in Sta. Elena, Camarines Norte, and to Tagkawayan, Quezon and its border with Camarines Sur.

In the meantime, while they are waiting for their ride to the borders, the stranded persons will be brought to the Provincial Engineering Office in Pagbilao or the Quezon Science High School in Barangay Isabang in Tayabas City.

Suarez has also given instructions to the PDRRMO to fetch Quezon residents stranded in San Pablo City in Laguna, and to bring them to their respective hometowns.

Suarez he was already coordinating with officials of local government units (LGUs) in Bicol so that they could fetch their compatriots at the borders with Quezon.
