TACLOBAN City – Three men, who scoffed at authorities for asking them to wear face masks, were arrested Wednesday, March 25, for defying a city-wide order everyone on the streets to wear face masks, and violation of the quarantine restrictions.

According to Tacloban police, Vic Abolencia, 25; Jonathan Daa, 18, and Leanre Nacinopa, 20, all of Barangay 74 in Lower Nula-tula here, were arrested after they refused to obey orders by police officers and barangay tanods to wear protective masks and go home when they were found loitering in the streets of the city.

According to authorities, instead of heeding their orders, the group of men even shoved and pushed them before they were subdued and taken to the Tacloban City Police Station 2.

While at the police station, the rowdy group continued to be unruly and shouted at the policemen on-duty.

The suspects were detained and were awaiting the filing of appropriate charges for violation of Sec. 9 of Republic Act 11332 (Mandatory reporting of notifiable diseases and health events of Public Health Concern Act which prohibits non-cooperation) and Article 151 of the Revised Penal Code (Resistance and Disobedience to a Person in Authority).
