QC: 72 COVID-19 cases; deaths 10, recoveries 7

The Quezon City government on Wednesday, March 25, reported that there are now 72 confirmed novel coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) cases, 10 deaths and seven recovering patients as of 7 pm of March 24, 2020.

Previously, there were 62 COVID cases, six deaths, and six recovering patients in the city.

The report noted that the 10 additional patients are from the following barangays:

■ District 1
● Barangay Lourdes - one patient

■ District 3
● Barangay West Kamias - one patient
● Barangay Matandang Balara - one patient

■ District 4
● Barangay Bagong Lipunan sa Crame - two patients
● Barangay South Triangle - one patient
● Barangay Paligsahan - one patient

■ District 6
● Barangay Culiat - two patients
● Barangay Sauyo - one patient

EXTREME ENHANCED COMMUNITY QUARANTINE (EECQ)

Mayor Joy Belmonte said that the extreme enhanced community quarantine (EECQ) will be implemented in barangays with two or more confirmed cases, in places where streets are congested and urban poor areas, where fast transmission of the disease is highly possible.

She explained that “this is subject to review everyday depending on the number of cases/recoveries.’’

As of 7 p.m. of March 24, the Quezon City government is now implementing extreme enhanced community quarantine in the following barangays:

■ Tandang Sora
■ Kalusugan
■ Ramon Magsaysay
■ Maharlika
■ Tatalon
■ Batasan Hills
■ Pasong Tamo
■ Central
■ San Roque
■ Paligsahan
■ Bagong Lipunan ng Crame
■ South Triangle

Belmonte noted that Barangay Central does not have COVID-19 patients but will be under extreme enhanced community quarantine due to the presence of numerous hospitals along East Avenue.

DISINFECTION EFFORTS

The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the Quezon City Fire Department have continuously disinfected streets and highways in the city.

As of March 24, 2020, the following areas were disinfected and decontaminated:
