4 arrested in selling alcohol in Quezon

QUEZON- Two persons selling alcohol without the approval from the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) and another two for selling high prices of alcohol were in a joint police operation in relation to Presidential Proclamation no, 922 in separate places in Lucena City and Sariaya town, police reported yesterday.

In Lucena City, the arrested were Aimeelour A. Ilocario and Reynald N. Garcia upon the joint team of 405thA MC, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 4a, and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Quezon conducted an entrapment operation against them on Monday.

The two were violated the Republic Act 7394 (Consumer Ac) and R.A. 9711 (FDA Act of 2009) in line with the President Rodrigo Duterte’s proclamation on Enhancement Community Quarantine in Luzon.

According to the report, the suspects’ caught in the act of selling Ethyl Alcohol without the approval of Food and Drugs Administration, markings and labels.

Confiscated from them were one box containing 23 bottles of one liter, 70% solution of allege ethyl alcohol costing to P4,480.00 and five bottles of one liter, 70% solution and the marked money.

While in Sariaya town, Cristy Cantos and Rogelio Cantos also arrested after they were pinpointed by Ilocario as the supplier of the said alcohol product in a follow-up operation of the said authorities.

It added in the report that the Cantos’s based Ilocario’s statement is selling the said item to the public for a higher price.

Also, the authorities confiscated from the suspects the shreds of evidence found in their store and brought to CIDG-Quezon provincial field unit office in Camp Nakar, Lucena City.

Charges to be filed against the suspects in relation to the FDA act and Consumer Protection Act to the prosecutors’ office. ( Danny Estaci
