"No penalties shall be collected for the late registration of motor vehicles and renewal of driver's licenses which shall expire during the duration of the community quarantine. In the case of NCR, from March 13 to April 12," the LTO announced in its advisory.

Code Red Sub-Level 2 was raised in the Philippines last week over the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat, and and enhanced community quarantine was imposed on the entire island of Luzon for at least a month.

President Duterte also announced the suspension of government work in the executive department during this period.

The LTO also said the validity of all student permits will also be extended within the duration for the purpose of applying for a driver's license, while temporary operator's permits that expire on March 13 can be settled within the aforementioned duration of suspension.

Those with vehicle registration, licenses, and permits that will expire during the community quarantine period are also encouraged by the agency to stay at home.

"No penalties shall be imposed. These documents can be renewed after the quarantine has been lifted," the agency added.
