1 dead, 2 wounded in Cavite shooting incidents

CAMP GEN. PANTALEON GARCIA, IMUS, Cavite – A person died, while two others, including a woman, were wounded in separate shooting incidents over the weekend in Cavite province, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) here reported.

The shootings happened in drinking sessions in Barangay Alingaro, General Trias City, and Barangay Pasong Buaya II, in capital Imus City.

The fatality was identified as Reynaldo Olivera of Alingaro and the wounded as Diana Valdez Montibon and Victor Terol Magbanua of Woodsite II Subdivision, Pasong Buaya II.

Police reported that Olivera was shot twice in the body by a certain Rusteng as they were having a drinking spree with another companion at 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Rusteng fled after the shooting.

Olivera, who suffered body wounds, reportedly died at the General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital at 10 p.m., also Saturday.

The motive of the shooting was not immediately known, police said.

The Imus police reported that Montibon and Magbanua were shot by a neighbor with a .9mm pistol as they were drinking with friends in a house vicinity at Woodsite II at 9:45 p.m. Friday.

The victims sustained gunshot wounds and were brought to Medical Center-Imus for treatment.

Responding officers from a police community precinct arrested the gunman Bayani J. Lusica.

Corporal Jessie Villanueva, case investigator, said that old grudge was the motive gpt the shooting attack.

Initial police investigation showed that Lusica and those he was drinking with had a heated argument when he approached and admonished them for the loud noise they were creating.

The suspect, who was also intoxicated, then went home, got his gun and fired at the group when he returned to the scene.

Lusica was arrested by the responding team and brought him to the Imus police station.

The Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) has renewed and intensified its drive against criminality and loose firearms with the reported spike of shooting incidents in the turf.

Just this month, a distraught former soldier reportedly ran amuck and killed three persons, including rwo women, and wounded two policemen with his own gun before shooting himself dead.

The incident happened in a barangay (village) sitio also in General Trias City.
