DOH: 96 overseas Filipinos positive for COVID-19, 64 have recovered

The Department of Health (DOH) said that 96 overseas Filipinos have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said of that figure, 80 were on the M/V Diamond Princess cruise ship while six were on the M/V Grand Princess cruise ship currently docked in San Francisco, California.

Vergeire also reported that two Filipinos were also found positive for COVID-19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), five in Hong Kong, and three in Singapore.

Meanwhile, 64 Filipinos have already recovered from the disease, with 62 of them from the M/V Diamond Princess and one each from Hong Kong and Singapore.

The other Filipino patients are still admitted in medical institutions.

Vergeire said one of the two patients in UAE is in critical condition.

"’Yung sa UAE, the most recent, ay meron pa rin tayong isa na kritikal at isang pa rin ang stable, parehong naka-admit sa hospital (The most recent on UAE, we have one critical and the other is in stable condition. Both of them are still admitted in the hospital)," she said.
