Olivarez confirms 2 San Juan residents test positive for COVID-19 in Parañaque

Parañaque Mayor Edwin Olivarez said on Tuesday that two residents of San Juan tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at a private hospital in Parañaque.

In a report from ABS-CBN News, Olivarez said the two patients, a couple, opted to be confined initially at the Unihealth –Parañaque Hospital and Medical Center because their child worked there.

The mayor said the pair was transferred on Monday to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa.

Parañaque authorities will disinfect the areas visited by the couple before they were confined, he added.

President Duterte announced on Monday evening the suspension of classes in all levels in National Capital Region (NCR) from March 10 to 14 as the number of COVID-19 cases in the country soared to 24.

The number of cases of COVID-19 worldwide has crossed 110,000 people in 100 countries and territories with more than 3,800 dead, according to an AFP tally on Monday. (With reports from AFP and Argyll Geducos)
