Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto confirmed on Monday that a non-resident is confined in a hospital in Pasig City, while one resident is admitted to a facility outside the city after testing positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Sotto, citing information from the Department of Health (DOH), said that the non-resident is currently confined in Medical City Pasig.

The other patient, who is a Pasig resident, is currently confined in a private hospital outside of Pasig.

The mayor assured the public that the Pasig government is closely coordinating with the DOH. “The hospitals are secure.”

Sotto also said the city is implementing precautionary measures set by the DOH and the World Health Organization (WHO) such as contact tracing, dedicating response teams observing proper protocol, disinfection of public spaces, cancelation of all public events and gatherings, and putting applications for permits for large private events on hold.

The cities of Marikina and Quezon have earlier confirmed cases of COVID-19.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country is now at 10.

President Duterte signed on Monday the Executive Order declaring a State of Public Health Emergency following the resurgence of the COVID-19 cases in the country and the confirmation of its local transmission.
