BIR Commissioner Caesar Dulay issued Revenue Memorandum Circular No. 17-2020 extending the filing period to accommodate many employers who failed to meet the Feb. 28 deadline.

The submission of the alpha list of employees included Annual Information Return of Income Taxes Withheld on Compensation and Final Withholding Taxes (BIR Form No. 1604-CF).

Plus, the extension of the deadline for Certificate of Compensation Payment (BIR Form No. 2316) and the Annual Information Return of Creditable Income Taxes Withheld (BIR Form No. 1604-E)

Meanwhile, Revenue Deputy Commissioner for Operations Arnel Guballa appealed to individual and corporate taxpayers to file their 2019 income tax return early to avoid the last minute rush.

The last day of ITR filing is April 15.

He also requested taxpayers to avail themselves of the various online facilities in filing and paying taxes which are more convenient and hassle-free.

The revenue official said this was evident by the increasing number of taxpayers availing themselves of the electronic Australia system.

Last year, some 70 percent of the P2.1 trillion collections were paid online.
