3 wounded in Sorsogon NPA attack

CAMP OLA, Albay - One soldier and two civilians, including a minor, were when suspected New Peoples' Army (NPA) fighters attacked an Army camp in Barcelona town in Sorsogon province on Saturday night.

Police Major Malu Calubaquib, Police Regional Office 5 (PRO-5) spokesperson, said an undetermined number of suspected NPAs harassed the Community Support Program (CSP) team led by Sgt. Bryan Lozada based in Barangay Sta Lourdes in Barcelona town at around 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.

Calubaquib said a fire fight lasted for 10 minutes that resulted in the wounding of a soldier, while a minor and an 18-year-old civilian were also hurt.

The rebels withdrew to unknown direction while investigation and pursuit operation are ongoing as of press time.
