BIR files P153 million tax evasion cases vs. 6 Makati taxpayers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue filed on Thursday tax evasion charges against six business taxpayers based in Makati City for their alleged refusal to pay tax debts of some P153 million.

In separate criminal complaints submitted to the Department of Justice, Makati Revenue Regional Director Maridur Rosario identified the respondents as Creative Computing Inc., Millennium Plaza Condominium Association, Boma One Pacific Corp., Isarog Pulp and Paper Corp., Hotelsystem Asia, and Emmanuel Fernando Diaz, owner of Megan Agro Philippine Enterprises.

Ms. Rosario said the owners and other officers of the businesses were included in the charge sheets for allegedly ignoring assessment and collection letters, adding that some of the indebtedness was incurred more than a decade ago.
