Pit bull Nibbles scores a chance to fight again. But this time against crime.

Rescued from a pit bull fighting ring in Canada, Nibbles will start his new career in law enforcement. He will serve as a police K-9 in New Bern, North Carolina.

Nibbles was rescued by Throw Away Dogs Project, a rescue team that rehabilitates once broken dogs into community protection officers.

Meanwhile, in Laguna, a nonprofit organization -- the Laguna Pit Bulls Sanctuary -- also shelters pit bulls rescued from dog fighting rings in Cavite and in Laguna from 2011 to 2012.

Dog fighting is a type of blood sport. Several countries have banned dog fighting, but it is still legal in some countries like Japan, Albania, and some parts of Russia.
