A plan to build two flyovers that are seen to ease traffic around Iloilo City was recently bared by the the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The department, according to DPWH-Iloilo City District Engineer Rodney Gustilo, is now working on the planning stage and public consultation of the two infrastructure projects.

Consultation activities with stakeholders are underway for the construction of Jibao-an Flyover and Buhang Flyover, Gustilo disclosed.

Jibao-an Flyover will rise along Iloilo Circumferential Road crossing Mandurriao-San Miguel Road in Mandurriao district while Buhang Flyover will be constructed on Iloilo Circumferential Road crossing Iloilo-Capiz Road (New Route) in Jaro district

Both flyovers will have two-lanes, spanning 300-lineal meters and will shorten travel time and lessen traffic congestion on the busy thoroughfares of Iloilo City.

The recent public consultation was attended by various stakeholders where issues and concerns from communities and utility companies that may be affected by the construction of the proposed flyover projects were brought up.

A total of P160 million will be needed to implement the two flyover projects, the regional director said.
