Duterte appoints Nur Misuari as special envoy, Jose Embang Jr. as fire chief

Malacañang has released the list of new presidential appointees, including Special Envoy of the President to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Nur Misuari and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) chief Jose Embang Jr.

The designation paper of Misuari, the founding chairman of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF), was signed by the President last Jan. 20.

The Palace first announced the appointment of Misuari last month shortly after his meeting with President Duterte at the Palace.

The two have agreed to advance the peace process in Mindanao.

Also appointed by the President was Embang as the new BFP chief with the rank of Fire Director. The appointment paper was signed by Duterte last Jan. 16.

The Palace also released the appointment paper of new Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Archie Gamboa signed last Jan. 20. The police general took his oath as new head of the PNP before the President last Tuesday.

Among the new appointees are Arthur Casanova, commissioner of Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino; Roberto Salvador, Director III of the Department of Health; and other new judges and police officials.
