The Luzon grid has been placed under yellow alert today due to insufficient reserves, power distributor Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced.

In an advisory, Meralco said the Luzon grid will be under yellow alert from 10:01 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; from 1:01 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.; and from 5:01 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

"This is due to insufficient operating reserve brought about by power plant outages," Meralco said in a Twitter post, quoting the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

Meralco advised its customers to conserve power.

"In case of supply deficiency, corporations and commercial establishments under the Interruptible Load Program (ILP) are ready to use their generator sets to help prevent / minimize incidents of power outage," it added.
